A Mazda MX-5 On Steroids: Australia’s V8 Engined Bullet Roadster

In the late ‘90s, Australian John Bettini unleashed onto the word the Bullet Roadster. What begin life as a heavily modified Mazda MX-5 with an RX-7 13B powerplant gradually evolved into a V8-engined monster like the one you see here that we found for sale in Queensland, Australia.

According to the seller, this was the fifth Bullet Roadster built and the first V8-engined one to roll out of the company’s then new Chinderah, NSW factory. It’s all hearsay, of course, but I’m willing to believe the words of a 62yo motoring enthusiast with arthritic knees. So here goes...

Bullet No. 5 was a special order from a man named George Covacic who supplied a 4.6-liter all-alloy, fuel injected V8 crate motor along with a Tremac 5-speed manual transmission and the differential from a Holden Commodore SS. Like all Bullet supercars, the brakes and suspension came from the Mazda RX-7.

Pontiac Solstice gets an Engine Transplant from a Toyota Supra

In the world of engine swaps, anything goes but it’s always nice to see people experimenting with different kind of builds. For Car Lounge forum member ‘Phlow’, the patient was a Pontiac Solstice roadster with a weak heart - or so to say.

While most physicians would prescribe a local LS V8 transplant, this doctor went for something more exotic, to be precise a 2JZ, which is a code name for the Toyota Supra’s twin-turbocharged inline-six.

Nissan GT-R R35 Station Wagon Conversion

To be completely frank, what you see pictured above is a R35 GT-R faced Nissan Stagea M35, a Japanese-market model produced from 2001 to 2007 which is commonly referred to as the Skyline Station Wagon as it is based on the Skyline/Infiniti G35 V35 platform. On show at the Nagoya Auto Trend show, this canny conversion from Japanese speciality tuner "Kids Heart", combines the front end of the almighty GT-R with the practical body of the Stagea.

Unfortunately, we don't have any information concerning the GT-R Wagon's hardware, but we reckon that you'd agree with us when we say that it would be a letdown if it isn't equipped with the GT-R's twin-turbo V6 engine.

Anteros Coupe & Roadster: 2009 Corvette-Based Sportscar on Sale from $149,500

California based custom coachbuilder 'n2a Motors' has announced today that it is taking orders for its latest model, the Anteros that was first displayed at the 2008 Los Angeles International Auto Show. Available in both coupe and roadster body styles, the Anteros is built on the 2009 Corvette and features a body styling reminiscent of Italian, British and American designs. The turnkey Anteros Coupe and Roadster models with the 430 hp /424 lb.-ft. torque LS3 V8 start at $149,500 and $154,500 respectively while the Coupe built on the Corvette Z06 start at $176,500.

Buyers can also opt for various performance packages ranging from 525-1000+ horsepower. For example, the silver coupe seen in these photos is based on a 2009 Corvette Z06 and is modified with Lingenfelter's 630 horsepower performance package. As you would expect from a $150k+ car, Chevy's 100,000 mile powertrain warranty remains completely intact and the Anteros can be serviced at any GM dealership.

Once the order is given, it takes 'n2a Motors' approximately 12 weeks to build a complete model off a Corvette donor car. Aside from the composite body panels and the new alloys, the coachbuilder also upgrades the Vette's interior with re-contoured leather seats, leather dash, Italian carpeting, and leather-wrapped interior panels.

eBay Find: Porsche 944 S2 Convertible with Corvette V8

As we were looking around to shop for a Porsche 944 S2, we stumbled upon this modified version of the convertible on eBay which has had its original 3.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that delivers 211PS replaced with a Corvette-sourced, LT-1 5.7-liter V8 allegedly rated at 350HP. We've no idea what else has been changed on the car and if the end-result is satisfactory in terms of performance and handling, but we do know that Porsche's engineers designed the 944 S2 Convertible to cope with a specific output.

Plus, and even though the seller did spend money for the conversion, the 'Buy it Now Price' of $19,995, isn't what we'd call a deal for a car that has ceased to be original.
